Aiding Scheduled Caste Students with Modern Learning Tool

In today’s digital age, access to technology is crucial for academic success. Recognizing this, the Director, Scheduled Caste Welfare, Government of Gujarat, has introduced a significant initiative to bridge the digital divide: the Tablet Assistance Scheme for Scheduled Caste Students of 12th Standard. This scheme aims to provide students with essential digital tools, ensuring they are not left behind in a technology-driven educational landscape. By offering a tablet at a nominal fee, the government empowers these students to pursue their studies effectively and prepare for their future careers.

Eligibility: Who Qualifies?

The scheme is specifically targeted at Scheduled Caste students in Gujarat. To be eligible, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Residence: The student must be a permanent resident of Gujarat and belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.
  • Education: The student must be currently enrolled in the 12th standard in a recognized school.
  • Tablet Status: The student must be a beneficiary of the tablet provided by the Education Department, for which they paid a token fee of ₹1,000.
  • Income Limit: There is no income limit to apply for this scheme, making it accessible to all eligible SC students regardless of their family’s financial background.

Benefits of the Scheme

The core benefit of this scheme is financial assistance designed to offset the cost of the tablet provided by the Education Department.

  • Financial Aid: The scheme provides an assistance of ₹1,000.
  • Purpose: This amount is a refund for the token fee of ₹1,000 that the student paid to receive the tablet, effectively making the device free of cost.
  • Delivery: The financial assistance is credited directly to the student’s bank account, ensuring a seamless and transparent process.

Application Process: A Step-by-Step Guide

The application for this scheme is managed online through the Digital Gujarat Portal, simplifying the process for students. Here’s how to apply:

  1. Portal Registration: Visit the Digital Gujarat Portal. If you are a new user, register by providing your mobile number, email, and creating a password.
  2. Profile Update: Log in to your account and update your profile by filling in all the mandatory information. After updating, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number for verification.

  4. Fill the Form: Complete the online application form with accurate details.
  5. Document Upload: Upload scanned copies of all required documents.

Required Documents

To ensure your application is processed without any hurdles, keep the following documents ready for submission:
