The health of its workforce is a key indicator of a state’s prosperity. To safeguard the well-being of its laborers, the Gujarat Labour Welfare Board has launched the Full Medical Checkup Assistance Scheme. This initiative provides vital support to workers in the organized sector, ensuring they have access to timely medical checkups to detect health issues early. This scheme is a proactive measure to maintain a healthy and productive workforce, reflecting the government’s commitment to the welfare of its “shramyogis” or workers.
Eligibility Criteria
The scheme is specifically designed for workers in the organized sector who meet certain age and contribution requirements.
- Employment: The applicant must be a “Shramyogi” working in an organized sector unit in Gujarat.
- Labour Welfare Fund: The worker’s Labour Welfare Fund must have been regularly paid by their employer for at least one year.
- Age: The scheme is for male workers above 45 years of age and female workers above 35 years of age.
- Frequency: The benefit can be availed only once per year per worker.
Benefits of the Scheme
The scheme provides a comprehensive medical checkup for eligible workers.
- Medical Checkup: The benefit is a full medical checkup at a government-approved medical facility.
- Financial Assistance: The scheme covers a fixed amount of ₹1,950 per worker for the complete medical checkup. A portion of this amount, specifically 25% or ₹487.50, is paid by the employer or the company. The rest is covered by the scheme.
- Early Detection: By facilitating these checkups, the scheme aims to help workers identify and address potential health problems before they become serious, leading to better long-term health outcomes.
Application Process
The application process is managed through the Sanman Portal, ensuring a streamlined and transparent digital experience.
- Registration on Sanman Portal: If you are a new user, you must first register on the Sanman Portal. You will need to enter your Aadhaar card number, select the user type, and then provide your Labour Welfare Fund Account Number.
- User Details: After fetching and verifying your details, you’ll enter other user information and create a password.
- Login: Once registered, log in to the portal using your new user ID and password.
- Scheme Application: Navigate to the “Full Medical Checkup Assistance Scheme” and fill out the online application form with the required details.
- Submission: Submit the form and follow any further instructions provided on the portal for document submission or verification.
